In December 2006, Morteau, a vial of radium salts was discovered by high school students.
Nuclear Safety Agency and the DSC Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) were dispatched.
Several members of staff and students, supported IRSN were briefly hospitalized in Thursday night to Friday, December 7 at the University Hospital in Besançon.
A student had recovered from May, a vial of radium salts in an old disused factory watch (Mercier). His room for boarding, the labs of the school, his family home had seen visited by all departments of anti-radiation with tools
Radium is highly radioactive and his life takes 1602 years. It was used in the hands of watches until the 1950s because it is luminescent. It emits a bluish glow.
reported that Mercier converted factory that has been converted into dwellings, was still occupied in late 2006.
