Dürrstein & Comp. Dresden:
Trader Dresden, Johannes Dürrstein was born in Frankfurt am Main and finished his studies by learning the trade magazine wholesale Ludwig and Fries. He founded with his brother Friedrich Dürrstein a distribution company in 1874 to Dresden, and had its registered office at No. 27 of Waisenhausstrasse. The company "Durr stein and Comp. Dresden" was assigned for a time, the exclusive distribution of firm A. The nge & Sons for all the German kingdom of that time (now unified). The company added to its range Dürrstein Lange, another line of pocket watches, second grade and cheaper. In 1879 "Dürrstein and Comp. Dresden" sold, in addition to Lange, the first watches Qualit called DUF (Deutsche Uhrenfabrik). Brand Union:
In 1880, the marketing name "Union", whose symbol is a stylized temple, was launched by Dürrstein brothers, with the objective Prod uire in their manufacture their own timepiece . Finally in 1893 the brothers were persuaded by the state of Saxony to migrate Glas hut, where their factory is based. What did the "Glashüt ter Uhrenfabrik " UNION "" genuine factory (the name "Union Taschenuhrfabrik" is also sometimes cited - check!). On May 7, 1901 in Dresden, Johannes Dürrstein died. The First World War interrupted production and difficulties accumulated until the close of the factory in 1926. (The lack of production of wrist- watches brought down the company - check!) . (Then Protection mark was lost in 1936 because funding - check!)
In 1996, group Swatch Swiss (ETA) buys Glashütte Original. UNION was part of the lot, and was p OSITIONING disadvantageously compared to GO, this despite the prestigious heritage of the "Fabulous" and " Jubiläum" . Sources: are mentioned in the text, otherwise see below bulk ...
